Important Notice: Individual registration is required for all event attendees. Only attendees with their own individual registration are eligible for attendance verification and CEU/SCECH credit. Group or shared registrations are not allowed and do not qualify for attendance verification or CEU/SCECH credit.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Identify three common barriers in current Michigan school SLP practice and explain how the MSHA guidelines address them.
  2. Apply the 2025 MSHA Guidelines to real-world school case studies to determine research-backed, compliant pathways for evaluation, eligibility, and service delivery.
  3. Explore workload-management strategies used successfully by Michigan SLPs over the past year to implement practical solutions in their own daily practice.

Christina Frenzel, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist in the Lansing School District (LSD), where she supports the prevention, identification and remediation of speech and language delays for preK-12 students.

Cassandra Griffin, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Bloomfield Hills Schools (BHS), where she supports the prevention, identification and remediation of speech and language delays for preK-12 students.

Diane Katakowski, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a Speech & Language Pathologist and Consultant at Oakland Schools (OS), where she facilitates professional learning in the areas of communication, speech and language development, assessment and intervention, multi-tiered systems of support, and literacy for educators.

Justine Walker, M.S., CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT, is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Jackson  County Intermediate School District (JCISD). She has been a speech pathologist for 14 years, working with individuals birth-26 years old in private school, public school, and outpatient settings.  She  currently supports K–12 students with diverse communication needs and collaborates with school staff to promote functional, meaningful communication throughout the school day.

Event Certificate and Continuing Education Credit Requirements:
All registered attendees seeking a attendance certificate and/or continuing education credit (including ASHA CEUs and MOECS SCECHs) must complete the official MSHA 2026 Public Schools Virtual Conference Continuing Education Form. Attendees will be informed of the form at the start of the event, and the form link will be provided at the end of the event.

The form must be fully completed and submitted by October 29, 2026. Each attendee may submit the CEU form only once and are required to identify three key takeaways learned from the event. All information provided must be accurate and in compliance with the MSHA Code of Ethics to be considered satisfactory. Incomplete, inaccurate, or late submissions will not be processed and will result in ineligibility for continuing education credit.
