Questions & Answers:
1) How do you keep a limited license after you retire? An individual won’t be able to renew the license unless it’s for the purpose of providing speech-language impairment services as part of employment or contract with a school district, nonpublic school, or state department that provides educational services. If an individual doesn’t have this type of employment, the limited license will lapse. If the limited license is lapsed for 3 years or more, the individual will have to meet the requirements for a full and unlimited license.
2) If you have already retired from the public school system can you get a limited license? Yes, if the applicant meets the following requirements: • Applies for a license by December 7, 2013.• Establishes that he or she is a certified teacher whose teaching certificate was endorsed on January 12, 2009, in the area of speech and language impairment for the sole purpose of providing speech-language impairment services as part of employment or contract with a school district, nonpublic school, or state department that provides educational services.• Establishes that he or she is providing speech-language impairment services as part of employment or contract with a school district, nonpublic school, or state department that provides educational services. Please remember that a limited license is only valid for providing speech-language impairment services as part of employment or contract with a school district, nonpublic school, or state department that provides educational services.
