Executive Board Responsibilities

President:

Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the association and an impartial voting member of the Executive Board for the organization, developing policies and procedures and regulations, monitoring financial performance and the organization's program. All committees and EB members have a reporting relationship to the President.

Past President:

Provides guidance and leadership for the development of the MSHA long-range goals and association policies and procedures.

President-Elect:

Provides guidance and leadership for the development of MSHA long-range goals and Association policies and procedures. Assists the Presidnt as requested and prepares for assuming the presidency of the Association using all training and mentoring resources available.

Secretary:

Takes the minutes at all Executive Board meetings and provides copies of written minutes for review and approval by the EB at each subsequent Board meeting. Takes the minutes for the Annual Business meeting and amends minutes as needed.

Treasurer:

Manages all aspects of all MSHA accounts. Submits monthly financial status report to the MSHA office for distribution to the EB. Responds to questions and concerns of the membership relating to MSHA financial matters. Wowrks with the Advisory Assembly Finance Committee to oversee review of annual budget requests from each Vice President and Advisory Assembly Committee Chair and make recommendations to the President and the EB regarding the annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Assists the Vice President for Programs with the Annual Conference financial planning as needed and provides financial guidance to MSHA Committees as needed. Draws money from MSHA funds and makes expenditures as authorized by the Executive Board. Submits an annual report to the Internal Revenue Service.

Vice President for Public Relations:

Provides training and mentoring for all public relations committee members to understand their roles within the committee and fulfill their responsibilities to the committee and membership. Actively seeks new members to oparticipate in the Public Relations and Communications Committees. Respond to questions and concerns of the membership relating to public relations and communications. Oversees the development, coordination and promotion of MSHA activities related to promoting the association and the professions. Communicates with the membrship via articles published online, Association newsletter, and via social networking. Submits annual budget requests and manages funds allocated for PR activities. Assists the Vice President for Programs in publicizing the MSHA Annual Conference and other programs as appropriate.

Vice President for Legislation:

Guides the selection and employment of any lobbyists hired by the Association to accomplish its legislative agenda. Works collaboratively with any lobbyists hired by the Association to accomplish its legislative agenda. Serves on MSHA's behalf as liaison to elected officials and state legislative groups and serves on MSHA's behalf as liaison to related professional organizations. Actively seeks membership. Communicates with the membership via articles published in the Association newsletter. Submits an annual budget and manages funds allocated in the area of legislative activities. Assists the Program Committee in identifying conference topics and speakers with a focus on pertinent legislative issues. Assists in coordination of MSHA's Legislative Day efforts in conjunction with the Organizational Committee for Legislative Day and the Vice President for Public Relations.

Vice President for Membership:

Organizes, schedules and presides over the sub-committee for determination of recipients of the Honors of the Association and MSHA Scholarship Awards. Compiles and maintains data sheet on membership status and distributes sthe information at the EB meetings. Presents names and credentials for Life Membership status to the Executive Board. Sends appropriate recruitment materials and applications to Michigan universities with SLP/AuD programs in a timely manner. Prepares recruitment letters for non-members in conjunction with MSHA office staff and new members prior to and during the MSHA Annual Conference. Preapres annual report for the MSHA Annual Conference Business Meeting and other meeting reports as needed. Communicates with the membership via articles published  in the Association newsletter. Ssubmits annual budget requests and manages funds allocated for membership recruitment activities. Surveys membership regarding satisfaction with MSHA membership and participates in the development of MSHA Long-Range Goals.

Vice President for Professional Development and Education:

Mentors the Vice President-Elect for Professional Development regarding and activities of the committee and the planning for the Annual Conference, retreat and other professional development events. Actively seeks new members to participate in the Program Committee. Responds to questions and concerns of the membership and relating programs. Signs and secures contract for Annual Conference and Retreat sites. Solicits input from the EB and membership regarding speakers for the Annual Conference. Communicates with the membereship via articles published in the Association newsletter. Facilitates coordination of all aspects and etails pertaining to the Annual Conference, including meeting space, dining/refreshments, ground transportation, AV equipment, reservations and account billing information. Meeets appropriate contract deadlines. Identifies and provides guidance to coordinators for educational tracks at the Annual Conference with assistance from the Vice President-Elect for Professional Development. Promotes attendance at the Annual Conference and EB Retreat. Collate and present results of membership satisfaction survey relating to the Annual Conference to the EB. Monitors the assigned activities of the program subcommittees and provides updates to the EB and submits annual budget requests and manages funds allocated for the program development activities.

Vice President-Elect for Professional Development and Education:

Actively seek new members to participate in the Program Committee. Responds to questions and concerns of the membership relating to Programs. Solicits input from the EB and membership regarding speakers for the Annual Conference. Communicates with the membership via articles published in the Association newsletter. Facilitates coordination of all aspects and details pertaining to the Annual Conference, including meeting space, dining/refreshments, ground transportation, AV equipment, reservations and account billing informationi. Meets appropriate contract deadlines. Serves as a resource and provides guidance to coordinators for educational tracks at the Annual Conference with the assistance from the Vice President for Programs. Promotes attendance at the Annual Conference and EB Retreat. Monitors the assigned activities of the program sub-committees and provide udpates to the EB, as directed by the Vice President for Programs.

Vice President for Professional Services:

Serves as a liaison for the Committee on Public Schools and Community and Hospital Services to ensure provision of speech-language pathology and audiology services in accordance with the highest professional standards within the state of Michigan in all work settings. Organizes, schedules and presides at all Professional Services Committee meetings. Maintain committee meeting minutes and sends a copoy to the MSHA office. Responds to questions concerns of the membership relating to professional standards of practice. Provides documentation/reports detailing changes or concerns regarding professional standards of practice. Communicates with the membership via articles published in the Association newsletter. Submits annual budget requests and manages funds allocated for activities of the Professional Services Committee. Assists the Program Committee in identifying conference topics and speakers with a focus on professional standards of practice.
