The following issues were
addressed during this year:
- Multiple
inquires of concern were received regarding non-degreed persons providing
speech-language services to children in a school setting.
- These
individuals received a reply and clarification regarding Michigan laws as
it relates to individuals practicing speech-language therapy.
- An
inquiry of concern was received regarding suspected insurance fraud in a
private practice setting.
- This
individual received a reply and after additional assistance from speaking
with specific individuals from the American Speech-Language Hearing
Association (ASHA), contact names from ASHA were provided to assist in
this matter. This individual was also directed to seek information
from their insurance provider. Follow
up discussion regarding this matter was completed regarding this matter.
- An
inquiry of concern was received regarding supervision requirements for
Medicaid billing for a clinical fellow in a skilled nursing care facility.
- This
individual received specific guideline information regarding mandatory
supervision requirements from ASHA. This
individual was also provided with a specific contact name from ASHA to
assist with further questions. Follow
up discussion with this individual was completed regarding this matter.
